Doug has more than 20 years of operational experience holding senior-level positions in the telecom, Internet and technology space. Most recently Doug spent 10+ years as Managing Partner at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners. Prior to Hummer Winblad Doug was CEO of Critical Path. Prior to Critical Path, Doug was President and CEO of Global Center. Global Center became one of the first and largest providers of advanced web hosting. After selling Global Center to Frontier Communications in 1998, Doug was named President of Frontier Global Center and Executive Vice President of Frontier Communications Corporation.


Doug also held the position of president and CEO of MFS Datanet, the Internet and data arm of MFS communications. MFS Datanet became widely recognized as the leading bandwidth and connectivity provider to more than 3000 ISPs and leading corporations worldwide. Doug was a key member of the team that negotiated the purchase of UUNET, positioning MFS as the world leader in Internet data traffic. Prior to this, Doug held several other senior-level management positions including general manager of North America at Ardis, a Motorola company. Doug received a B.S. in economics from Siena College.


Currently Doug is on the Boards of BinWise, Plug Power Inc (NSDQ PLUG), Lunera Lighting and Siena College.

Grant Gilligan
Founder and CTO

Grant founded BinWise in 2007 that launched the company’s first on-line software application, RealWineLists. Grant is an on-again, off-again avid cyclist and has raced with Lance.

Grant has over 20+ years experience in San Francisco Bay Area's top restaurants and most recently at RN74. In 2004, Rajat Parr of The Mina Group hired Grant onto the opening team at Michael Mina. Grant spent five years as Cellar Master responsible for the organization of the wine program. Grant was also sommelier at Restaurant Aqua in San Francisco under Master Sommelier William Scherer. Grant also spent time at Bix, Post Rio & Lark Creek Inn.


While working closely with Master Sommeliers and great wine directors such as Rajat Parr, Grant recognized that talented wine directors needed modern tools to be more effective. Through BinWise’s products, Grant revolutionized the way Rajat Parr and wine directors manage their wine program.

Tony Cha
Director of National Key Accounts

Tony is responsible for national sales and strategic accounts. He is also our resident restaurant and wine expert and was recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as “Best New Sommelier”. Not only is Tony a collector of fine wines, he is also a collector of fine sneakers.

Tony says: “If there’s a fire in my apartment, I would try to save my entire Air Max 90 sneaker collection.”

Tony began his passionate pursuit of the hospitality industry at a young age in his family’s restaurant in New York and was most recently head sommelier at Michael Mina for about six years. He also spent time at Slanted Door as head sommelier. In 2001 Tony worked at Rubicon under Master Sommelier, Larry Stone. Tony was also a restaurant manager and wine buyer responsible for the opening of Restaurant 9545 for Drew Nieporent of Myriad restaurant group. Prior to moving to San Francisco in 2001 Tony spent time in Denver and Telluride, Colorado as food and beverage director for Peaks Resort and Spa Hotel. Tony holds a BA in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Penn State University, has an advanced sommelier certification and was recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as “Best New Sommelier”.

Isabelle Hong
CFO

Isabelle is responsible for finance, administration and business operations. She is also a self-certified black belt in Excel.

Isabelle is an accomplished finance executive including last 15 years with private technology start-ups. Most recently Isabelle was CFO of GNi, a private cloud provider for MMOGs (acquired by FusionStorm). Prior to GNi, Isabelle was a consultant advising on strategy and business re-alignment for Bay Area and Austin based technology start-ups. She has also held CFO positions at WaveMaker, an open-source software for web and cloud applications (acquired by VMWare); ITConvergence, an Oracle systems integrator; and Media Sourcery, SaaS for healthcare. Her other experiences include senior management roles at GATX Capital (NYSE - GMT) and BHP Minerals (NYSE - BHP). Isabelle is a Price Waterhouse alumnus, received her CA designation from ICABC and holds a Bachelors of Commerce from the University of Calgary.

Andy Salentine
VP of Business Development

Andy will take the lead to expand our current platform for just restaurants to include suppliers. The supplier platform will revolutionize the information flow between restaurants and their suppliers. Andy also makes his own wine and owns property in Mendocino wine country.

Andy has 20 years experience in supply chain, technology, M&A and business development. Andy began his career as the Managing Legal Counsel for Fritz Companies, a $1B global logistics firm. In 2000 he founded his own SaaS logistics technology company, Speedchain, which was acquired by Vastera (NDAQ – VAST). Andy was the VP of Corporate Development and M&A at Vastera leading the acquisition of technology companies in Canada, Mexico and Brazil as well as developing strategic partnerships in Europe and Asia. He most recently was the VP of Corporate Development at TradeBeam, a venture capital backed global trade management SaaS technology company in Silicon Valley, where he was instrumental in structuring partnerships, acquisitions and raising over $30 million in venture capital investment. Andy graduated from the University of Minnesota and holds a law degree from Marquette.

John Martin
Vice President of Sales

As a former executive at OpenTable and recovering restaurant manager, John brings widespread experience to the BinWise sales team. During his tenure in the restaurant business he studied wine, ran programs and produced three wines in 1998.

John worked in restaurants for 11 years before he was hired as the first sales person and 20th employee at OpenTable. His management philosophy was built instructing rock climbing and wilderness course at the North Carolina Outward Bound School. Through this experience he learned the significance of excellence, collaboration, competitiveness and respect.


At OpenTable, John was one of the top three sales performers annually from 1999 thru 2004. He won Account Executive of the year in 2003, and was promoted to Director of Sales in 2005. As a Director, he was responsible for Mexico and the Western U.S. and Canada.


In the 16 months prior to joining the BinWise team, John helped several startups launch go-to-market plans including sales and execution plans for new customers. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami. He also currently serves as an Advisor to ChowNow, and was a board member of GirlVentures and The Ross School.


As an avid rock climber and alpinist, John has spent countless days in the Sierras and Yosemite ascending classic lines. When he is not working or with his wife and kids, John can be found skiing, mountain biking, commuting to work from Marin on his road bike, gardening, cooking for a group of friends or listening to live music.

Joseph Ruvel
Director of Technology

Joe has 10+ years of experience in software development in the financial, non-profit, gaming, and pharmaceutical industry. In New York, Joe was Director of Technology for Flightpath Inc. working with such clients as The New Yorker, United Jewish Federation, and MTV. Moving to San Francisco, Joe was the lead developer and head manager for the Professional Services Consulting Group at GameSpy, a division of IGN Entertainment. At GameSpy Joe was an integral part of building the back-end infrastructure, in-game integration, websites, and project management for some of the biggest games ever made including Grand Theft Auto IV, Command and Conquer 3, and Battlefield 2142. Joe received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Rutgers University.

Chris Etterman
Sales Associate

Chris is responsible for getting the foot in the door and gaining new account leads. As a member of the sales team, his fearless tactics are unrivaled. Did we mention he has a voice made for the phone?

In his free time, Chris is usually playing basketball or eating burritos, sometimes simultaneously.

From season ticket and luxury suite sales for the Los Angeles Clippers, to technical recruiting for Sapphire Technologies and Granite Solutions Groupe, Inc., Chris is excited to apply his experiences towards his position as Sales Associate with BinWise.

Jeff Campbell
Account Executive – Los Angeles

Jeff is responsible for sales and increasing the BinWise footprint in the Los Angeles area. Being a former actor, Jeff has spent the majority of his life in the restaurant industry.

From an early age, Jeff has always been involved in the hospitality industry. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, he migrated west to find fame and fortune. While having great success in the acting world, performing in national commercials, voice-overs and multiple movies and television shows there was still a need for a steady income. Jeff was part of the opening teams for multiple restaurants including CPK and most recently Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion where he has spent the last seven years. Being in the restaurant industry has also blessed Jeff with the ability to stay at home during the day to raise his young son. Santa Barbara wine country is one of his great loves. It’s where he and his wife got married and get to escape to when the in-laws are in town to babysit.

Amy Payne
Marketing and Social Media Master

Amy is responsible for marketing, content and social media at BinWise. Between 10 years working in restaurants and a Master of Science degree from Medill School of Journalism of Northwestern University, she brings a wide range of experience to the BinWise team.

Hobbies: When she is not working, Amy enjoys running half marathons, yoga, mountain hiking, cooking, international travel and ridiculously good wine with great company.

Amy fell in love with wine, food, and the culture surrounding them while studying abroad in Paris in 2006 through San Diego State University. Before Medill, she worked in fine dining and management for five years, and is a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommelier program. She placed as a bronze medalist in the Midwest TOP|SOMM competition in April 2010, won an educational enrichment program to Bordeaux in August 2010, passed service and tasting of the Advanced Level Exam in October 2010 and retired her restaurant career as the Wine Director of Chicago’s L2O, a 3 Michelin Star awarded restaurant 2011. Amy currently writes a monthly wine column for Restaurant Management (RMGT) Magazine and freelance writes for other lifestyle publications. After a two-month internship for Decanter Magazine in London January 2012, she moved from Chicago to San Francisco to be closer to wine country and her family in San Diego.

Phil is a regular jack of all trades who loves the fast pace life of the startup world. He is responsible for coding and anything that that needs to get done.

Emily was initiated into the restaurant business in her hometown of Washington DC in the early 90's with the Donna Group, and has been fortunate to have been a server and bartender in some amazing places- New York City, Santa Fe, Venice Beach, and San Francisco. She was able to really indulge her passion for wine, food and service when she worked with Tony Cha, Rajat Parr and Grant Gilligan at Michael Mina in San Francisco. She is currently setting up a tasting group on Kauai with some local servers and bartenders.

Armed with a degree in Political Science, Megan keeps trying to save the world and wine keeps sucking her back in. After graduation she worked part-time in the tasting room at Bonny Doon Vineyard, where she was promoted to tasting room manager and remained for over three years. When she moved to San Francisco, she had the opportunity to work at the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant where she drank great wine and wore many hats. Megan escaped wine to pursue a Master of Arts in Public Policy from The George Washington University in Washington DC. While there, she worked for the U.S. government and learned that saving the world is not as easy or expedient as she thought. That’s when she knew that wine was more than a passing fancy. She moved back to the West Coast to follow her heart…wine. In Portland, OR she worked for Antica Terra winery before joining the BinWise team.
